Al Miller in the custody of Jamaican Police

Prominent Jamaican preacher Al Miller is now in apparent trouble with the law in Jamaica after he was 'caught' transporting Christopher 'Dudus' Coke. Al Miller claims he was carrying Dudus to the United States Embassy. According to the Gleaner he has now turned himself in to the police.

While I will not swear for Al Miller, I believed he blundered but until proven otherwise, I believe his motives where clear; hand over Christopher 'Dudus' Coke to those that wanted him, safe and sound. I might be shown to be wrong and that is no problem.

I am not the least troubled that Dudus was disguised , furthermore the disguise was useless as he was easily identified by the police when the car driven by Al Miller was allegedly stopped at Ferry St. Catherine.

Interestingly, it is the United States that wants Christopher 'Dudus' Coke and the Jamaica has been asked to arrest him. As apart of the extradition treaty, a warrant has been executed for his arrest. So in principle, carrying Dudus to the United States is not wrong but from a legal point of view there are some technicalities. It is here Al Miller blundered. The fact that there was a warrant out for his arrest, meant he now needed to be handed over to Jamaican Authorities before being handed over to the the United States Marshall.

If this had been the period pre-signing of the extradition warrant, his actions would be absolutely without question. However a warrant was now in place.

In Al Miller's defence, he had publicly said he had met with Dudus. He had also stated that if he had more time, even maybe up to Wednesday May 26, 2010, he would have brought Coke in. Al Miller had written an open letter, published in the Gleaner, to Dudus telling him that he was willing to come and get in wherever he was and ensure that he was brought in safely.

Apparently, so said, so done.

Blundered

Again I say Al Miller blundered. Al Miller should have at least called Les Green. To be honest, apart form some police officers I know, I am not calling any and ever police officer when it comes to certain matters. James Robertson did this when he rescued an alleged gunmen with whom the police claim they were having a shoot-out. However Al Miller did say that he intended to but when he went to meet Coke he had no phone on him.

However Al Miller's previous actions must not dismissed. He has arguably allowed to the police to have in their custody two men they badly wanted. One wonders what would have happen had Al Miller convinced Coke to hand himself before May 24, 2010.

I do have some questions though and wonder suppose he had been caught on the road with 'livity' or 'sandy'? They did not have arrest warrants out for their arrest.
